The Grosse Ile Rotary Club annually hosts Children and Staff from Madison School

Madison School is a "Center Based Program" for special needs children. Students come from the seventeen downriver school districts. Students that attend Madison School must be referred by their resident school district. Click HERE for a link to the school's website for more information about this special school and HERE for more information about meeting the special needs of the children at Madison School.

Every year, the Grosse Ile Rotary Club enjoys hosting an outing on the Detroit River with the Very Special Children and Very Special Staff from Madison School, of Wyandotte, Michigan. We gather at the beautiful Grosse Ile Yacht Club, where club members have brought their boats. The boats are the: "Duck Factory", skippered by John Perry and Bruce Milkins (Past President or "PP"); the "Clam Digger", skippered by Warren and Bridgette Hurst; and, "Hard to Tell", skippered Ted Van Os (PP). Most of the club participates and really enjoys the day with the children and the great and loving folks from Madison School.

Following the River Ride, the entire crew enjoys a wonderful luncheon, hosted by Joanne and Marty Medved (PP), Janet Hurst and several others.

This year we were joined by Jeff Pope, Ace, no longer Cub Reporter, The Ile Camera, part of the Heritage Newspaper Group. Click on the small picture image to expand the size of the photographs. Thanks to Madison School for these great pictures.

Captain Ted Van Os welcomes guests aboard. Getting the gang on board is a real team effort with six PPs in one shot. Left to right: Ron Peltier, Marty Medved, Pete Rock, Jesse Don Kreger, Sean Frese & Loren Hoffman. Warren Hurst's Clam Digger is well suited to host the wheel chairs.

Here is the happy gang on John Perry and Bruce Milkins' Duck Factory. We had the great support and protection of the Wayne County Sheriff's Water Patrol Team, seen in the top right corner. They keep the speeders from rocking the boat, so to speak. Happy Boaters here!

Lots of hours have been invested in that picnic table.  Enjoying the ride but not the splashes. A cutie pie, helper and Jeff Pope, on the right.
