Our Club was formed in 1947. The weekly meetings of the Grosse Ile Rotary Club are held at the Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club. Meetings are held every Thursday, 6:30 PM. Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club is located at the corner of Meridian and Grosse Ile Parkway. Our club's proudest moment was the elevation of our Member and Past President to the position of Super District 6400 District Governor, Roberto Sanchez, for the Rotary Year 2004-2005. Please click here to see a photograph of Bob and his wonderful family, HERE

The Club's Citizen of the Year for 2008 is Margarete Hasserodt. She's our awardee, a Rotary Foundation "Fellow" and the "Grand Marshall" of the Island Fest parade, pictured there, click to see the larger image, with thanks to the Ile Camera, for the picture:

 

August 16, 2007 brought our club on the Detroit River for the Changing of the Guard, with Super District 6400 District Governor Jennifer Jones, as Presiding Officer for the ceremony. Here is a picture, left to right: New President Alan Hickman, Immediate Past President Bill Krauss, Jr., Jennifer, and Member Jim Smith, part of the Hospitality Committee. DG Jennifer Jones joined the Club on May 22, 2008, to help with our Vista Maria "Welcome Bag" Project, spearheaded by Joanne Medved. Here is a picture of Jennifer with our President Alan Hickman. Please click HERE to see the full collection of pictures of the project.

 

This site is managed with Microsoft Expression Designer and was last updated May 18, 2008. This Site was hosted, at no cost to the Grosse Ile Rotary Club, by Risk Management Software, Inc., Newport News, Virginia .  RMSI perform a number of risk management technology related software applications and consulting services for banks and other financial service providers.  As of April 6th, 2008, the site migrated to Dot Com Web Productions, LLC, our new webhost. It is a Grosse Ile based internet service provider. They also host the Trenton Rotary Club's site and the Roar on the River site, for the Trenton Rotary Club.

Here is a shot from June 26, 2003 Changing of the Guard, on Lake Erie, just east of Grosse Ile. It was a beautiful evening. More coming soon. I got two nice shots.
